A Daily Dose     Monday, March 31, 2014

I am constantly surprised at how I keep taking the gifts God has given me--my health, my intellect and emotional gifts--and keep using them to impress people, receive affirmation and praise, and compete for rewards, instead of developing them for the glory of God. It's almost as if I want to prove to myself and to my world that I do not need God's love, and that I can make a life on my own.

Henri J.M. Nouwen

1 Peter 2:4-5

Come to him, a living stone, rejected by human beings but chosen and precious in the sight of God, and, like living stones, let yourselves be builtinto a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

A Daily Dose     Sunday, March 30, 2014

Joy is really a road sign pointing us to God. Once we have found God...we no longer need to trouble ourselves so much about the quest for joy.

C. S. Lewis

Galatians 5:22-23

In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

A Daily Dose     Saturday, March 29, 2014

Acquire the habit of speaking to God as if you were alone with Him, familiarly and with confidence and love, as to the dearest and most loving of friends. Speak to Him often of your business, your plans, your troubles, your fears…

St. Alphonsus Liguori

Psalm 145:18-19

The LORD is near to all who call upon him, to all who call upon him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them.

Fr. Timothy M. Gallagher

Titus 3:4-7

But when the kindness and generous love of God our savior appeared, not because of anyrighteous deeds we had done but because of his mercy, he saved us through the bath of rebirth and renewal by the holy Spirit, whom he richly poured out on us through Jesus Christ our savior, so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs in hope of eternal life.

A Daily Dose     Wednesday, March 26, 2014

I believe in God the Father, in God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost; in these Three Persons I fully believe, and that by the passion, death and merits of Christ Jesus I must be saved.

St. Margaret Clitherow

1 Corinthians 1:18

The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
