Achievement is Successful Action

Our faith calls us to action. God is always there and will always forgive us for our sins no matter how grievous they are. What we must know is that our daily lives are filled with many actions, great and small. If each action is accompanied by God, then not only will we live eternally in the Promised Land (Heaven) but we will help others along their earthly pilgrimage, just as Moses building the saraph on a pole helped the Jews. - Danielle

Hebrews 10:35-36

Therefore, do not throw away your confidence; it will have great recompense.

You need endurance to do the will of God and receive what he has promised.

Principle and Foundation

Prayer is truly a heavenly armor, and it alone can keep safe those who have dedicated themselves to God. Prayer is the common medicine for purifying ourselves from the passions, for hindering sin and curing our faults. Prayer is an inexhaustible treasure, an unruffled harbor, the foundation of serenity, the root and mother of myriads of blessings. Saint Nectarios of Aegina (1846-1920)

Psalms 31:4-7

You are my rock and my fortress; for your name's sake lead and guide me.

Free me from the net they have set for me, for you are my refuge.

Into your hands I commend my spirit; you will redeem me, LORD, faithful God.

You hate those who serve worthless idols, but I trust in the LORD.

Can I get a Witness?

To be a witness does not consist in engaging in propaganda, nor even is stirring people up, but in being a living mystery. It means to live in such a way that one’s life would not make sense if God did not exist.

Cardinal Emmanuel Suhard

Luke 8:1-3

Afterward he journeyed from one town and village to another, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. Accompanying him were the Twelve and some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, Joanna, the wife of Herod's steward Chuza, Susanna, and many others who provided for them out of their resources.

A Prayer For Healing

You invite all who are burdened to come to You. Allow Your healing hands to heal us. Touch our souls with Your compassion for others.

Touch our hearts with Your courage and infinite love for all.

Touch our minds wiht your wisdom, that our mouths may always proclaim Your praise.

Teach us to reach out to You in our need, and help us to lead others to You by our example.

Most loving Heart of Jesus, bring us health in body and spirit that we may serve You with all our strength.

Touch gently these lives You have created, now and forever.

Amen. (Priests of the Sacred Heart)

James 5:13-16

Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone in good spirits? He should sing praise. Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over him and anoint (him) with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful.

Point the way to the truth

A Faithful Father

In His wisdom, God has taught us how we all should try to live

In His goodness, He has shown us that He always will forgive…

In our gratitude, we turn to Him in humble, loving prayer.

Give ear, O heavens, while I speak; let the earth hearken to the words of my mouth!

May my instruction soak in like the rain, and my discourse permeate like the dew, Like a downpour upon the grass, like a shower upon the crops.

Forgiveness and Healing

Of course you are unworthy. But when do you hope to be worthy?... All the good works that we could ever do would never make us worthy, in this sense, of Holy Communion. God alone is worthy of Himself, He alone can make us worthy of Him, and He alone can make us worthy with His own worthiness.

St. Catherine of Siena

Psalms 103:11-19

As the heavens tower over the earth, so God's love towers over the faithful.

As far as the east is from the west, so far have our sins been removed from us.

As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on the faithful.

For he knows how we are formed, remembers that we are dust.

Our days are like the grass; like flowers of the field we blossom.

The wind sweeps over us and we are gone; our place knows us no more.

But the LORD'S kindness is forever, toward the faithful from age to age. He favors the children's children of those who keep his covenant, who take care to fulfill its precepts.

The LORD'S throne is established in heaven; God's royal power rules over all.

Putting Love Into Practice

Love consists in sharing

what one has

and what one is

with those one loves.

Love ought to show itself in deeds

more than in words.St. Ignatius of Loyola

Luke 6:27-36

"But to you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. To the person who strikes you on one cheek, offer the other one as well, and from the person who takes your cloak, do not withhold even your tunic. Give to everyone who asks of you, and from the one who takes what is yours do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you. For if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do the same. If you lend money to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit (is) that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, and get back the same amount. But rather, love your enemies and do good to them, and lend expecting nothing back; then your reward will be great and you will be children of the Most High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. Be merciful, just as (also) your Father is merciful.

Contribute to the needs of the holy ones, exercise hospitality. Bless those who persecute (you), bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.

Who Is A Steward?

The leftovers belonged to the poor, especially widows, orphans, and needy foreigners.

Because their land and ours really belongs to God, the practice of gleaning the leftovers and sharing them with the poor—especially the widows, orphans and needy foreigners—served to remind landowners that they were stewards of God's property, sharing with those less fortunate. In this way, an agricultural society could provide a safety net for the poor.

What an important reminder during times of economic stress as we reflect on the One who really owns and provides all we have and enables us to share with those who have less. Submitted by the Compassion International team

Authentic Christianity

A Christian worthy of the name is one who imitates Jesus' life in every circumstance of his or her own life.

The life of every saint brings to light some particular mystery of Jesus' life: his childhood, his preaching, his love for children, his passion, etc. The Virgin Mary lived all the mysteries in their perfection.

The first Christians had an original way of expressing the identity:

The Christian is one who bears Jesus

in his or her mind,

in his or her heart,

in his or her gaze,

in his or her hands,

on his or her lips,

in his or her entire being. Francis Xavier Nguyen Van Thuan

Galatians 3:26-29

For through faith you are all children of God in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free person, there is not male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's descendant, heirs according to the promise.
